Running Outside

I ran
when it was ten degrees
I felt the wind on my ears
And the layers of long sleeves.

The drivers stared
As my sneakers sloshed in the shoulder of snow
I struggled.
My pace was so slow.

Every morning
People warm up their cars
I warm up my body
By running super far

I consider running on treadmills
But I'm no rat on a wheel
I need the outdoors
The air I can feel!

Icicle eyelashes
Soaked with cold sweat
I examine my ankles
No frostbite on me yet

I hop in the shower.
My day has just begun
It was bitter cold
But I completed my daily run.
