Politics

In politics, candidates have a vision
And they often have to make too many decisions
I can't decipher between the truth and lies
They're all dressed in black suits and ties
They open they're mouths and all i can hear
is a booming microphone and mumbling in my ear
I can't distinguish what the future will hold
I'm just supposed to listen to what I'm told
I go behind the curtain and pull the lever
and hope the candidate i pick is clever
I hope that he or she is original and has wit
I hope in my heart that they won't ever quit
I want them to know that there are people that work hard
and some people that sit around like a tub of lard
I really want to be optimistic
But honestly there are too many logistics
The electoral college, checks and balances, and more
It seems there's more than just a war that we're fighting for
I'm afraid that one day that people won't try
Machines will take over and we will never ask why
I just want people to be innovative
to fix our nation we must be creative
You know that we all have a choice
Don't be afraid. Just use your voice.
