Water Hunting

-->
Water Hunting

Have you ever gone water hunting?
There’s no hunting of deer
A pole and hook is all you need
No other special gear
I guess you need a boat
But that’s just transportation
I’ve gone to every lake
Throughout the U.S. nation
I water hunt in oceans
I water hunt in streams
And when I catch a creature
I open my mouth and scream
Sometimes I catch seaweed
Sometimes I catch shoes
But when I am lucky
I’ll catch a fish or two
I once caught a shark
But I let him go away
That creature deserved to live
At least another day
When I go water hunting
I do it for the fun
I reel each creature in
Slowly one by one
But if a fish is sad
I like to let it go
A fish deserves to live
It also deserves to grow
So when I’m water hunting
I do it with great care
Hunting to kill a creature
Really isn’t fair
Water hunting is far better
Than hunting in the woods
Because I can save many creatures
Like I know I should
If you go water hunting
Please treats the creatures well
And if you really have to
Some creatures you can sell
But only if they’re ready
To end up on your plate
Otherwise when water hunting
Those creatures can surely wait
Be careful while water hunting
Be thoughtful and be wise
If a hook comes at you
Be sure to close your eyes
After a long day of water hunting
I really need to rest
I’ve got to be honest
Water hunting is the best

Physics

I'm not going to tell you that I like physics.
Because I don't.
I actually don't like science that much.
because I don't let myself like it.
I get frusturated
I get lazy
And sometimes.
I give up
I hate giving up
And i don't want to give up anymore
When I do work hard
i do well
Which makes sense
Because working and earning go hand in hand
but then there's that second guessing
That voice in your head saying,
"Is this the right decision?"
I'm a free spirit
But sometimes I feel a bit constrained
as I search for identity
i struggle to understand the cards I've been dealt
Why I'm here and not there
The what if's
The should haves
The could haves
But the time is now
And since i'm done giving up
I'll be content with the fact
that this path
will lead me somewhere
no matter what.

It's Tough in New York

My father first coined the phrase "It's Tough in New York' in an old home video from 1987.  Watch a portion of the video here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1fujdqs5MQ&feature=plcp&context=C3baa0faUDOEgsToPDskLlI6cbCf2vAKD1yOzoEc2X

I've started using the tag line in many conversations.  If anything ever goes wrong, I know why. Because it's tough in New York. That's why.   Maybe all of the toilet paper ran out, and there is none left.  I will then let people know of my misfortune and tell them that it's tough in new york.

Sometimes people hear me say that it's tough in New York, and they just give me a strange look.  I hope that in writing this, it'll clarify some of the confusion I have caused.

I actually have influenced some of my friends to say that "It's Tough in New York."   For example, just the other day my friend got into a car accident on the highway because it was blizzarding a bit.  She texted me and told me that it was a tough day in New York.  I agreed. That is tough. Real tough.  But she's a alive. And because New York is so tough to live in, she has become tougher too.

if you live in New York, you have probably experienced how tough it can be to live in the state.  The weather is erratic.  Sometimes there is crime. The governor is pretty blind. Taxes are high. You know. That is tough.

But we can all find what we love in New York.  State parks. the fingerlakes. the empire state building, mount marcy. many friendly people. stellar skiing. summers we can savor until the fall. so many trees. good education.

Living in New York makes you a tougher person. (How can shoveling 35.93 feet of snow not make you tougher?)  I think New York is great because so many people that live here are willing to overcome the obstacles that they face.

This is one obstacle i may face sometime this spring;  If it rains at the park i decide to go to for the day, that's tough.  But if I find a way to make the situation better, I become tougher.

Maybe you aren't from New York.  I just need to warn you.  it's tough here.  You have to be tough in order to survive.  But I believe in you.  If you decide to come here, just be tough.  Conquer the toughness of New York!

And if you see me ever.  I'll tell you, and my dad will too, "It's Tough in New York."

People interactions cause a learning reaction

I talk to a lot of people
I interact with children of all ages.
I talk to parents, professors, and patrons
I bond with friends and co-workers.
This happens on a weekly basis
I listen to the voices on the radio and on cd
When I sit in silence, it's foreign to me
I learn through conversation
more than I've ever learned from a book
I hear their stories
I want to know more
Who? What? Where? When? Why?
How?
Answers answer questions
But then I question more
There's so much I just don't know
I learn through experience
through mistakes
through classes
but mostly
I learn from people
I seek people for inspiration
Each person, no matter how young, or how old, has something to say.
I like to listen.
I like to know what makes people tick
What they love
What motivates them to do more
The more I learn from others
The more that I learn about myself
I learn.
I discover.
People make me me.

My perfect Valentine

My perfect Valentine
he is a great guy
He likes to adventure
And he rarely lies
He drinks coffee every morning
And a glass of orange juice with ice
Sometimes he's mysterious
but mostly he's just nice
My perfect Valentine
can make me laugh
he runs some miles
and he has nice calfs
A stellar man
his words so wise
If someone was smarter
I'd be surprised
My perfect Valentine
dances sometimes
and if you make him
he'll even bust a rhyme
He's an excellent driver
he drives pretty fast
And if I'm bored
he'll make the time pass
My perfect Valentine
is my silly pal
with him around
the fun never fails
The boy I like enjoys music
and even makes some of his own
and if I told him to
he'd make a song out of this poem
My perfect Valentine
will do almost any dare
He lives in the moment
and hardly ever scares
He has many goals
and his friends, he has many
He likes cats and dogs
He'd give the poor more than a penny
My perfect Valentine
is pretty unique
He's one of those guys
that people always seek
I may not find him
at least not right away
it could be least expected
it could be a rainy day
My perfect Valentine
would take me on a date
and in the end
I'd know he was my soul mate.
I'd accept him as he is
And I'd like his quirky grin
and once in awhile
he likes to go for a swim
My perfect Valentine
If he were ever stranded
I'd sail a ship
to wherever he demanded
it wouldn't matter where we went
or matter what we go see
All that really matters
is that me and my Valentine are both happy.
