I went to church today for the first time since Christmas Eve.
On Christmas Eve, my family actually missed half of the mass.
We aren't very good at getting to places on time.
I went to church much more often when I was younger.
I was an altar server, and I enjoyed ringing the bells.
I also liked wearing the awesome cloak with the rope.
Sometime I would carry the cross into the church or candles in the church for the beginning of mass.
It's a miracle I never dropped them.
I am a confirmed member of the Catholic church, but I'm not a huge preacher.
Whoever or whatever you believe in, keep believing.
Put your heart into whatever you care for and love.
I wish that there was more enthusiasm within the Catholic church.
Why can't priests get married?
Why don't people actually sing songs with pride?
People should say "Amen" with more conviction.
"Amen" means I believe, so if you truly to do believe, say it, shout it, tell the world!
I like shaking hands in church. I like observing people throughout the
mass. I try to listen to the message that the priest is saying, but
sometimes I get distracted. It's not that I don't want to listen, I
just like to zone out and enjoy the peacefulness of the church. I find
it amazing that people can get together for an hour a week and just
listen. Church gives people an hour a week to appreciate all that they
have, and they don't have to be constantly consumed by the daily
distractions in their lives.
Church goers can stop
worrying about the trivial things for an hour of their day. They don't
have to look at their cell phones. They don't have to worry about the
errands and work they must do. They can just be.
I
think the Catholic church needs some modernization, and it needs a punch
of fun. But, I still appreciate the calm that it gives. I like the
stained glass windows, the wooden pews, and the ability to just let my
thoughts roam freely.
I want to feel more of a
sense of camaraderie at church. People shouldn't feel like they have to
go to church. They should want to attend and actively participate.
Smile. Sing. Praise. Love. Hope.
And believe.
That's all you need.
